Why does an electrical system need a transformer

What is a transformer
A transformer is a device which is usually installed alongside or prior to a consumer and it comes in a wide range of applications. Their job is to measure the electrical current coming from the power grid, and to transform it into far more predictable and easier to manage level.

An electrical transformer takes the high intensity and voltage electrical current and turns it into a far more stable kind which can now safely power electronics and appliances.
This basically turns AC current into DC current, which, while still does have a sinusoid in current, it is far less intense than the amplitude of the AC current. It’s exactly this rapid spike and drop in electrical current with AC power, which can fry an electrical system, a computer or any other sensitive electrical component.
